Turning shoppers off is a major issue. Instead of turning people away, any successful brand will direct them to the products they need by offering valuable information on the label design. Greenhouse Grower said it best in their article on pollinator plants.
Inadequate labeling is responsible for 28% of the surveyed consumers choosing plants outside the pollinator-friendly category. Many within the field of landscape marketing agree that better identification would easily encourage purchasers to select plants helpful to birds and insects.
Ignoring The Plant Value Points is Turning Shoppers OFF
As mentioned above, when customers don’t know a plant is a pollinator attractor, they move on. Create labels with value points printed clear as day. When it’s easy to understand the benefits of the item, shoppers will stop and explore further. As a result, they’ll become more educated about what is a great fit for their garden space. Plus, when customers find more value in your products over your competition, it will improve your relationship with your customers.
Use More Impactful Imagery
Another way to communicate what pollinators are attracted to the plant is by showing them in the product images. When space is tight, this is a simple way to communicate the idea. Not all customers are looking for butterfly and bee oriented plants too. Some will also be interested in attracting bats and hummingbirds. So, choose a picture with clear communication if this information won’t show up elsewhere on the label.
Expand Your Content
Use booklet-style labels to give customers more opportunity to read about the plant. Or, use labeling technology to link customers to more information online. It’s all about providing your shoppers with more value.
