Madama Rosmerta art conceptLandscapers, florists and and growers are all artists in their own right. As a business, it is important to get involved with the community, inspire customers and show them how you are there to help. By mixing horticulture with art, you add another level of accessibility to your work. Here are 3 ways you can use out of the box thinking to spark imagination and gain brand loyalty.

3. Art Festivals& Events

Great Lakes Label’s collaboration with artist, April Lytle for ArtPrize is an example of how businesses can collaborate with local artists for mutual benefit.  Below is an image of some of the labels sent to April for her to use as one of her mediums.

And here is what she was able to do with some of the labels she received.

As you can see by her concept on the right, her creation will require many samples. On top of this, she will also be using paint to complete her 6 foot piece. It is fitting that Madama Rosmerta is the Celtic goddess of rebirth.

Artists can find inspiration in working with new mediums and materials. For growers, an art event offers an opportunity to collaborate on a living piece. Look in your network, or post in local Facebook groups to find someone interested in the opportunity. Discover what they need to complete their vision and provide them with the plants they require. Then, when the piece has been completed and displayed at the event, attendees will see that your business is involved.

2. Community Events & Installations

Schools are a great place to start. Connect with the art classes to see if students would be able to develop their skills in new ways. Offer to create a unique display for prom and graduation. It not only creates a special moment for young people, but adds intrigue to your services. Best yet, it’s an opportunity to develop an interest in the industry at an early age.

Install a flower wall in local businesses, schools or parks. These artistic statement pieces are not only on trend, but great ways to advertise. Check out this flower wall from last month’s Cultivate. These installations could also incorporate the pots to show off your label art.

1.  Look to Other Industries For Unique Collaboration Opportunities

Your collaboration could be appreciated for other industries. For example, fashion shows, especially spring shows, would welcome the flare plants offer their runway. Imaging chefs creating a one of a kind dish with your edible flowers, available for one day only. The possibilities are endless.

Take a look inside your network and on social media for opportunities to mix art with plants. Not only will it prove mutually beneficial for both parties, but you’ll have fun doing it. Best yet, your positive influence on the community will be a ripple effect.
