Diphylleia grayi (also known as Gray’s Diphylleia) is native to the most, wooded mountainsides of China and Japan and has been found in Eastern United States. This plant enjoys the colder regions which is fitting considering the icy look of the wet petals.

Diphylleia Grayi Specifcations

When the weather is bright and sunny,Gray’s Diphylleia has white petals. The second it starts to rain, however, the petals begin to turn transparent. This is why the plant is also known as the “skeleton flower.” Once it stops raining and the petals dry, they return to their opaque white aesthetic.

In the late summer, stalks of blue fruit replace the flower.
