Protea, also known as sugarbush, represents change and hope in South African tradition. As you will see in this slideshow, the flowers come in many different forms.  There are some genus of this plant that are grown in Australia and California as they need heat, sun and extremely well-drained soil to survive.

These plants are not ideal for new growers, but they can create beautiful bouquets for the experienced green thumb. Protea require well draining soil or they will get root rot. That being said, they thrive in acidic soil that doesn’t offer much nutrients. If your customers have a sunny and dry spot that will not grow anything, offer this plant as a solution.
